
The Fourth Gyalwa Dokhampa Tenzin Chokyi Nyima
The fourth Gyalwa Dokhampa, Chokyi Nyima was born in 1730 in the upper region of Zachu. He studied under the great master Situ Maha Pandit Choekyi Jungne who was a close disciple of the third Gyalwa Dokhampa. Chokyi Nyima wrote commentaries on the Abhisamayalankara, Abhidharmakosa, Vinaya and Pramanvartika, making him one of the great commentators on Tibetan Buddhism.
Chokyi Nyima also founded the college, Namgyal Chokor Ling in Chamdo. The college produced many highly learned teachers. At the same time he founded a Yoga Center for the practice of the Six Yogas of Naropa. The center became well known for having produced hundreds of accomplished yogis (Tokden), up to the present day. At the age of fifty, he passed away and many amazing relics came out from his cremation and are preserved in Khampagar Monastery to this day.
